More about WISH

5$ from every Shelter sale is donated to Wish Vancouver

For over 35 years, WISH has been a safe space for street-based sex working women (cis and trans) and gender diverse folks, and an essential point of contact for frontline services. $5 from ever sale is donated to support WISH and the women in our community during these extraordinary and unsettling times.

WISH works to improve the health, safety and well-being of women who are involved in Vancouver’s street-based sex trade with acceptance, caring, dignity and respect. They opened the doors to Canada’s first-ever 24/7 temporary emergency shelter for street-based sex workers. Throughout the COVID-19 crisis, their drop in centre remains open and their MAP Van is on the road every day and night, continuing to provide services to women in the Downtown Eastside, with added health and safety precautions. Donations to the WISH Drop-In Centre Society are more important to participants than ever before. The financial support helps keep the WISH Drop-In Centre open and the MAP Van on the road. Now more than ever, the health and safety of women who depend on WISH – whose lives are already difficult – is paramount.

Women who come to WISH are already at risk for being homeless or living on the street, facing violence, discrimination and trauma. During the COVID-19 crisis, WISH has seen a dramatic increase in the number of women relying on their services. Women are unable to find safe spaces and are coming to remaining frontline services to sleep, shower and eat. And there is a growing amount of food scarcity—including among folks who never struggled to find food previously.

It's only with community that we can weather this crisis and it's imperative that businesses like our own support these initiatives.
