We send out previews of every release to our newsletter subscribers. We often give our subscribers early access + exclusive access to second sales. You can sign up for our newsletter on the home page of our website or in the footer of this page. We post on our Instagram feed regularly with launch information + what we are working on. You can turn on your notifications for @shopshelter_ on Instagram so you don't miss out!

We have limited summer stock available online in our Warm Weather Collection.

We often have more summer stock kicking around the studio, so feel free to come visit us for more options.

We use high quality, eco-friendly European linen that is dyed in the United States or in our studio by Alison. We are focused on having very little waste, so the small pieces left after your Shelter items are cut + sewn into scrunchies or pockets for our pants. Leftovers that are too small for Shelter production are used for Shelter Kids, our children's line.

Unfortunately it is not uncommon for linen to become threadbare with lots of love and wear. Linen is made from flax, so it is a very soft + buttery fabric that can lose strength in "high friction" areas (aka: where our thighs meet). We recommend sizing up to reduce potential pulling in high friction areas. We will happily mail you scraps to reinforce or mend your pants as needed, so that they can be loved for years to come. 

We offer a cotton/linen blend fabric to combat this issue. We have found that it is a strong and beautiful alternative to 100% linen pants. The cotton blend starts out more stiff but with wear + washing the linen aspect comes out so beautifully. If you plan on living in your linen pants, it might be worth it to consider this as a nice alternative.

NOTE: Linen pants are not meant to be worn fitted. If you find yourself in between sizes, we recommend sizing up.

We love baggy + oversized clothing. For a more tailored look with our tops, size down. We recommend that if you are in between sizes in pants, to size up. Please note that each style may vary slightly in sizing due to the cut. This will be noted on the individual item when applicable.

Linen is a beautiful, classic fabric that requires special care. To keep your linen looking its best, here are some tips:

1. When washing linen for the first time, use cold water + gentle detergent. This will help to prevent shrinking + fading.
2. Avoid using chlorine bleach or fabric softeners on linen as it can damage the fabric.
3. To get the best results, dry your linen in the shade. Avoid direct sunlight as this can cause discolouration.
4. Always iron linen while it's still damp to get the best results. Use a medium to low setting + press the fabric, rather than moving the iron back + forth.
5. For a softer finish, use a steamer to get the wrinkles out.

With these tips, you can keep your linen looking fresh + beautiful for years to come!

Linen is a soft fabric + will wear down in areas of high friction. This is the case with our linen pants where the thighs might rub. We suggest wearing these pants loose to cut down on the wearing, but we are not responsible for crotches that wear out, we apologize for this but it is the reality of wearing linen. We suggest taking pants to a tailor to patch this area before a hole forms. We will happily mail you scraps to reinforce or mend your pants as needed, so that they can be loved for years to come. Please email info@shelterclothing.ca with the colour of fabric you're after in addition to your full shipping address.
